If this is true I must have lost the last two decades ...
This kind of hype from the back cover always make me snort, especially when the contents of the book is worthy of attention beyond the marketing dell'ingiustificata altisonanza reviews and inattentive or part.
E 'this is the case de Sophie's World, a novel highly consigliatomi from my boyfriend (he was one of his teenage readings) that I took last night to finish by night. The book has a substantial size, perhaps intimidating to the young audience it addressed, but flows smoothly, thanks to a simple style and clear, perhaps a bit 'too conceptual per un ragazzo e un po' troppo infantile per un adulto.
In effetti lo stile di Gaarder non è quello di un letterato; sembra invece che a scrivere sia un papà, o un bonario professore, che punta alla chiarezza prima che alla forma.
Il campo in cui questo romanzo brilla è evidentemente quello dei contenuti: nella forma di un quasi-psicogiallo , l'autore riesce a raccontare in pillole la storia dell'umano pensare. Per chi come me non ha frequentato il liceo (ho un diploma tecnico) è una specie di corso accelerato, ma non per questo frettoloso, di storia della filosofia. Ma ancor più, è un chiaro messaggio su cosa sia di fatto la filosofia. Gaarder ci insegna che siamo tutti potenziali filosofi: il filosofo è colui che si pone un certo genere di domande, non chi studia le risposte date dai grandi uomini nei secoli. Filosofo è spesso il contadino ignorante che non smette mai di chiedersi il perchè della fioritura o il bambino che non da nulla per scontato e indaga cause e motivi, senza fermarsi al mondo dei fenomeni registrabili dai sensi.
Da questo punto di vista il libro è una lettura autofiltrante : se siete il genere di persone che guardano la vita dipanarsi, magari godendone ogni istante, ma non vi siete mai posti domande dal sapore di perchè..., da dove..., verso dove..., a che scopo... , allora probabilmente il libro potrà anche non annoiarvi ma sarà pressochè inutile. If something does not give you peace and a sort of nagging sense critical of yourself and the world forces you to continuously blend the thoughts until they become mush, then Sophie's World you will discover that you are not alone .
But I said that this book is also a quasi- psicogiallo : yes, Gaarder wanted to immerse the lessons of philosophy that a good tree to Knox propina neoquindicenne Sofia Amundsen, in a dreamlike atmosphere and detail. The book is not so masterful really should be imposed as a classic or a must, even if it deserves a place on the bookshelf of every teenager on the excellent content on the history of philosophy. At least not more books like La chioma di Berenice , di Denis Guedj, romanzo di altissima qualità.
Forse Gaarder ha voluto appoggiare le sue lezioni su uno scheletro avventuroso proprio per renderle appetibili ed assimilabili ad un giovane. In questo caso temo che ad un certo punto l'azione prenda il sopravvento in modo troppo prepotente e che tenda a coprire l'importanza data alle lezioni di filosofia. L'istruzione di Sofia diventa un tema secondario e la concitazione degli eventi impone ad Alberto di tagliare corto, sintetizzando il pensiero dei grandi contemporanei in pastiglie difficili da digerire, pur se spiegate con estrema chiarezza.
Ma il vero problema è che ho immaginato me stesso a quindici anni scorrere rapidamente le sempre più asettiche pagine sui sistemi di Kirkegaard o Hegel per capire il segreto di Hilde, di fatto ignorando l'importante messaggio istruttivo del libro.
Un peccato. Un vero peccato.
Per questo motivo, pur senza assolutamente bocciare questa piccola perla della divulgazione per ragazzi (e non solo) ritengo che le parole dello Spiegel siano assolutamente fuorvianti. La letteratura contemporanea, e con essa i lettori, trarrebbe grande giovamento da un po' di obiettività editoriale.
Consigliatissimo quindi come regalo per un ragazzo un po' cerebrale o sensibile; ma se siete interessati a infarinarvi sulla storia della filosofia e trovare spunti di indagine per le vostre elucubrazioni sull'uomo e sull'universo, Il mondo Sofia is a great springboard for even among adults who had no way to approach this important subject.
